We aim for all of our Year 7 students to be enrolled in the Children’s University. This is an exciting project that reflects our vision of students learning beyond the classroom and aspiring for excellence.
The programme is coordinated by Miss Holland assisted by our team of year 8 Children's University Graduate student leaders, who have already shown clear leadership skills.
The children are introduced to the programme at the start of the year in an assembly and are always excited about the chance to collect stamps for after school activities, as well as other activities that they can complete outside of school.
The programme includes activities including.
- Basketball
- Badminton
- Chess Club
- Catering
- Dance Activities
- Enterprise Club
- Football
- Gardening club
- Handball,
- Netball
- Maths Challenge
- Technology
- Trampolining
- Tennis
- Rugby
- STEM club
With lots of these activities on offer in school, every student should be able to complete 30 hours of ‘study’. This will allow them to receive a Bronze award at the end of the year. Some students may go even further and achieve a Silver (60 hours) or even Gold Award (100 hours). Students completing over a 100 hours of learning activities will be invited to a very special graduation ceremony. So if your child is about to enter year 7, log on to www.childrensuniversity.co.uk and encourage them to get involved!
In 2018 and 2019 the Gold Graduation’s took place at Birmingham University. Will this be you in 2021?
